Raking In The Green

It’s that time of year we all love, the weather is getting warmer, sun is shining, and we get to spend our free time outdoors.  This also means the work is just beginning for a lot of us too:  yard work, gardens, house maintenance, and usually a list of projects you would love to have completed by Fall.  This can be a little daunting; I have a lot of yard clean up each Spring before I can even move forward to the next thing on my list but I don’t really mind.  I think of all of this work as love and attention for our home; knowing that others have done the same for the last 130+ years and now we have the privilege each year to get this grand ‘ol gal ready for another Summer of celebrations, drinks on the porch with friends, and whatever projects we may complete, not getting hung up that we didn’t accomplish everything on that list (and with this fixer upper we probably never will, and that’s ok too).  Seeing the results of our hard work and enjoying our big yellow house make the long dirty hours for this labor of love worth it.  Stay positive about your spring cleaning projects, it is always worth the effort in the end, and it just may not seem like something you have to do anymore but something you want to do.
